New Cachemash Works (2017)

Cachemashing is a glitch in Adobe Photoshop discovered by Hugh Manon and Daniel Temkin, where the programs image cache is randomly projected onto a truncated JPEG image. This glitch was found to be reliably evoked in older versions of Photoshop, particularly version 6.0.

This series takes off where the 2012-2015 Cachemash Studies left off, focusing on software generated graphical elements as well as using cachemashing glitches in animation and software performance, culminating in a series of viral GIFs available on Giphy.
